Privacy and Cookies
How we collect, use and protect personal information, and what this site records when you visit it.
Blakemere Engineering Pty Ltd (“Blakemere”) is committed to respecting the privacy of all persons using this site, and to protecting any personal information we collect or which you choose to share with us. We are bound by the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and by the privacy and data protection laws of the jurisdictions in which we operate.
“Personal information” means any information from which your identity is apparent or can reasonably be ascertained.
What this site collects
The purpose of this site is to provide general information about Blakemere for marketing and information purposes. Presenting that information does not constitute professional or business advice, and we accept no liability for reliance placed on it.
We collect personal information from this site in three ways.
When you contact us. If you complete the enquiry form, we collect the name, company, email address, telephone number, enquiry type and message you provide. We use that information to respond to your enquiry and to keep a record of the correspondence. Form submissions are transmitted and processed by Cloudflare, Inc., which hosts this site, and are delivered to us by email through a third-party email delivery service. Cloudflare operates a global network and processes data outside Australia, including in the United States, so submitting the form involves a disclosure of your information overseas.
When you apply for work. If you submit an expression of interest or an application through the careers page, we collect the name, email address, telephone number, the stream and role you select and any note you write, together with the files you attach, which may include a curriculum vitae, a covering letter and an academic transcript. We use that information only to assess you for current and future roles at Blakemere and to contact you about them. It is seen by our recruitment and engineering leadership and is not disclosed to any third party for their own purposes. We hold expressions of interest for ninety days from the date of submission and then delete them. You are welcome to submit again at any time. If you would like your details removed before then, or would like to know what we hold, contact us using the details at the end of this policy.
Applications submitted through the careers page are transmitted and processed by Cloudflare, Inc., which hosts this site. The files you attach are held in Cloudflare R2 storage in a private location that is not publicly reachable, and we are notified by email with a link that expires after ninety days. Cloudflare operates a global network and processes and stores data outside Australia, including in the United States, so submitting an application involves a disclosure of your information overseas and, by submitting it, you consent to that disclosure. We take reasonable steps to satisfy ourselves that our providers handle the information consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles, but we are not able to control how an overseas provider handles information once it is outside Australia in the way we could if it were held here.
When you browse. Our servers and analytics tools record technical information including server address, domain name, browser and device type, the date and time of your visit, the pages you view and how you move through them. This is described in Cookies and analytics below.
We also collect personal information outside this site in connection with recruitment and contractor selection beyond the careers page described above, staff engagement, personnel administration, legal requirements and dealings with government agencies. That information reaches us verbally, in writing, by telephone, by email, through this website and through other methods of communication. We endeavour to collect personal information directly from the individual concerned except where it is not practical to do so. Third parties involved in collection or verification may include recruitment providers, health professionals, insurers and nominated referees.
Cookies and analytics
A cookie is a small text file placed on your device to remember preferences and to recognise a returning visit. This site uses cookies and third-party analytics for the purposes set out below.
- Google Analytics
- Measures how the site is used, including pages viewed, time on page, approximate location and referral source. Sets cookies on your device and transmits data to Google servers, which may be located outside Australia including in the United States. It does not identify you by name.
- Hotjar
- Records anonymised sessions and builds heatmaps so we can see how pages are read and where they are confusing. This captures mouse movement, clicks and scrolling. Entries in our enquiry form are suppressed and are not captured in recordings.
- Google Search Console
- Reports how the site performs in Google Search. It reads data held by Google about our own site and does not place cookies on your device or collect information about you.
You can refuse or delete cookies through your browser settings, and you may opt out of Google Analytics using the browser add-on Google provides. If you refuse cookies, parts of this site may not function as intended.
This site carries links to and interfaces with third-party services including LinkedIn. If you follow a link or share content through such a service, that service’s own privacy policy applies. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of websites we do not own or control.
How we use personal information
Personal information is stored in our systems for our business and administration purposes and may be used by Blakemere and any Blakemere subsidiary for responding to enquiries, staff selection and administration, contacting next of kin where necessary, employee management, archival retention, performance management, competency assurance, internal research, marketing and data analysis, improving our services, and meeting statutory obligations.
We do not sell your personal information. You may ask us to stop sending you marketing material at any time.
Disclosure
We disclose personal information only in accordance with this policy. Where disclosure involves transferring information overseas, we do so only where the recipient has demonstrated that it complies with the relevant privacy and data protection laws. Because we operate globally, and because this website, its forms and its analytics are hosted and processed outside Australia, your personal information may be transferred to another jurisdiction.
It is our policy not to disclose, sell or market your personal information to any unaffiliated third party without your prior permission, except where doing so is consistent with the original purpose of collection. We may disclose information where we believe in good faith that it is required to comply with the law, or is required for the prevention, detection, investigation or remedying of seriously improper conduct potentially affecting Blakemere.
Access, correction and complaints
You may request access to the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it if it is inaccurate, incomplete or out of date. You may also ask us to delete information that is no longer required for the purpose it was collected for. We take reasonable steps to keep the personal information we hold accurate, complete and current.
We undertake to respond within 30 days. If a request or complaint will take longer to resolve, we will tell you the date by which we expect to respond. We may refuse access where doing so would have an unreasonable impact on the privacy of others, where the information relates to legal proceedings, where access would prejudice an investigation, or where access is prohibited by law.
Security
We take reasonable steps to safeguard the personal information you provide, to keep it confidential and secure, and to respect personal privacy. Information is held in written and electronic form with physical, electronic and procedural safeguards, and access is restricted to those employees, joint venture partners, subsidiaries and third-party providers who need it. We train our employees who handle personal information to respect its confidentiality, and we treat breaches of privacy seriously, up to and including dismissal for employees who inappropriately access or misuse personal information.
No transmission over the internet can be guaranteed secure. Provided we have complied with this policy and our statutory obligations, we will not be liable for claims, losses or damages resulting from access by an unauthorised third party or the introduction of harmful code.
Consent and changes
By accessing or using this site you consent to the collection, use and transfer of your personal information as described in this policy, as amended from time to time. We may amend this policy and will publish any amended version on this page. Please check this page for changes.
